The Dandy Gent takes a break from the traditional

Following the opening of its new flagship barber shop in Irongate, Derby, The Dandy Gent team has set up a brand new system to make booking, at either of its two shops, much simpler.

The midlands’ most authentic old-school barber shop is offering clients a touch of the non-traditional, when booking their appointment – inviting them to download the app for their preferred shop, then select their service, barber and date with just a few clicks on their device!

The app compliments the usual routes to a Dandy Gent experience, including drop-ins, telephone and via its two Facebook pages (Irongate and Nuns Street).

“We’re hoping that this makes things even easier for our clients, and that we can build a community tool for like-minded gents looking for offers, ideas and grooming advice in the future.” Said Shane O’Shaughnessy, Owner & Master Barber, The Dandy Gent.

Anyone wishing to use the new system should:

  1. Go to their device or desktop App Store and search The Dandy Gent.
  2. Download the app, and register.
  3. Make a booking! Choose your service, preferred barber – by name or time-served at the chair (Junior, Senior or Master*)

New barbershop makes Dandy double in Derby

Popular traditional-style barbershop, The Dandy Gent, has just opened its second shop in Derby, in a bid for growth of its widely renowned brand in both gents hairdressing and grooming product manufacturing.

Its distinctive icon and branding gives all the promise of a uniquely traditional experience, and the service and quality range of male grooming products certainly deliver.

Owner, Master Barber and Apothecary, Shane O’Shaughnessy, is Derby born and bred, and is determined to build his business in the city that he loves.

The original shop on Nuns Street, in the University district of Derby, has been thriving, and the three-man team has been working to capacity, for over two years now.

“The shop was so busy that we were turning customers away all too often.” Says Shane. “As soon as I could get the money together to invest in a second shop, I went for it!”

“The new Irongate branch of The Dandy Gent is much bigger and allows us to accommodate many more customers more comfortably.” Continues Shane.

“In addition, we have more space to display our own range of grooming products – which we could never do properly before.”

In between running and working in his shop, Shane developed and began manufacturing his own line of grooming products with the help of his wife, Sherri.

The Dandy Gent products portfolio has grown in two years, and now comprises of seventeen traditional blends including; beard oils, shaving products, Splash (aftershave) and Macassar Oil, in a range of traditional-style and unique fragrances.

Shane is truly putting Derby on the map, in the world of male grooming, as his brand and product orders begin to snowball across the UK and Europe.

The Dandy Gent on Irongate opened this week, with an launch party for customers past, present and future on Saturday 8th April. The whole Dandy Gent team will be there to show visitors around, with free samples, refreshments, live music and a DJ from 11am – 3pm.
